Matthew J. Parini

Matthew J. Parini

Mr. Parini has made every effort to preserve the rights of individuals as a board member of the Erie County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Justice. His focus is always on helping people navigate the legal process.

“I used to represent the largest insurance companies in the world. I saw that people were not being treated fairly and needed representatives willing to fight for them. I decided that I wanted to help individuals and families in their claims against these insurance companies.” – Matthew

Matt is a personal injury and workers’ compensation attorney who focuses his practice on helping clients navigate the complexities of the legal process. Before settling down with his family in Erie, Pennsylvania, Matt spent seven years in the Washington, D.C. area. He practiced insurance law, personal injury and commercial litigation with one of the oldest and most prestigious law firms in Virginia.

Matt is admitted to all Pennsylvania courts, including the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. He regularly appears before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, as well as the courts in Erie, Crawford, Warren, McKean and other counties throughout the region.

Matt applies the firsthand knowledge he gleaned from his personal experiences to his practice. He has gained an in-depth understanding of the inner workings of insurance companies and how they defend claims. Matt’s experience representing many of the country’s leading insurance firms has proven invaluable in his current practice where he helps individuals and families pursue compensation for automobile accidents, work injuries and many other types of claims.

After studying pre-law and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Siena College in Loudonville, New York, Matt attended American University Law School in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation, he spent three years at the university as a law professor covering the entirety of the legal process. He taught students everything from how to research legal precedent to the correct way to prepare briefs, motions and oral arguments.

Matt’s work with various Pennsylvania legal organizations has been recognized with many awards and accolades. He has served as a board member for the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Erie County Bar Association. He has also been elected to represent the state’s attorneys before the American Bar Association.

As an attorney, one of Matt’s strengths lies in his ability to listen to people. He and the other attorneys of Melaragno, Placidi & Parini pride themselves on being available to answer questions and address problems beyond the typical 9 to 5 hours, including evenings and weekends. As a result, all clients have access to their attorneys’ cellphone numbers as soon as they retain the firm.

“One of the things I enjoy most about what I do is watching the difference in people’s attitudes about their situation after achieving a favorable result for them. They come in to meet with us in tears about how they will pay their bills and how they will get compensation for what happened to them. After the case, they leave relieved and happy that we could help them put their life back together.”

When he is not practicing law, Matt donates his time to various youth leagues and clubs in the Erie community. He has coached for the Erie Youth Hockey Association, the Erie Youth Soccer Association, the Fairview Athletic Boosters and the Fairview Lacrosse Club. In his spare time he enjoys traveling to watch his son’s basketball games.
